Dress Code

We request cocktail to formal attire for our wedding celebration. Think elegant cocktail dresses, suits, and dress shoes. We want everyone to feel comfortable and confident while looking their best! If you are unsure of what cocktail to formal attire looks like (because honestly, who does), The Knot has a great resource to look at.

We request that guests do not wear dark orange dresses to help distinguish our bridesmaids.

Appropriate Attire ✓

Here are some examples of appropriate formal attire:

Women's Attire Guidelines

Recommended:

  • Cocktail dresses or formal evening gowns
  • Knee-length, midi, or floor-length dresses
  • Dress shoes or elegant heels (wedges recommended for outdoor ceremony)
  • Light shawl or jacket for evening

Men's Attire Guidelines

Recommended:

  • Black, gray, or navy suits with dress shirt and tie
  • Tuxedos (highly optional but welcome)
  • Dress pants with blazer/sport coat
  • Dress shoes
  • Dress socks (no white athletic socks)

Masquerade Masks

When choosing a masquerade mask, think elegant ball, not Halloween mask. A colorful mask that matches your outfit is a great choice! You are welcome to use a hand-held mask, but keep in mind that hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be served during cocktail hour.

We kindly ask guests to refrain from wearing primarily white masks. Below are a few examples of appropriate and inappropriate masquerade masks to wear.

Pro Tips

  • Weather: October evenings can cool down, so bring a light jacket, wrap, or shawl
  • Comfort: You'll be dancing! Choose shoes you can move in comfortably
  • When in Doubt: Err on the side of being more formal rather than less
